This calorie counter allows you to scan a barcode and input personal parameters such as age, weight, height, gender, and activity level. Using these input values, it calculates your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE).

How to use:

  • Scan the barcode of the food item.
  • Enter your age in years.
  • Enter your weight in kilograms.
  • Enter your height in centimeters.
  • Select your gender.
  • Choose your activity level from the dropdown menu.
  • Click the “Calculate” button to see the results.

How it calculates:

The BMR is calculated using the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation:

  • For males: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 x weight in kg) + (4.799 x height in cm) – (5.677 x age in years)
  • For females: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 x weight in kg) + (3.098 x height in cm) – (4.330 x age in years)

The TDEE is calculated by multiplying the BMR by the activity level factor chosen.

Limitations:

This calculator provides an estimate based on the input values and may not reflect the exact number of calories needed. Factors such as muscle mass, metabolic health, and specific dietary needs are not accounted for in this calculation.
