How It Calculates the Results

The calculator uses the Harris-Benedict equation to estimate your BMR based on your gender, age, height, and weight. Then it multiplies the BMR by an activity factor that corresponds to your chosen activity level to estimate your TDEE.

  • Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) calculation:
    • For males: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 x weight in kg) + (4.799 x height in cm) – (5.677 x age in years)
    • For females: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 x weight in kg) + (3.098 x height in cm) – (4.330 x age in years)
  • Activity factors:
    • Sedentary (little or no exercise): BMR x 1.2
    • Lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week): BMR x 1.375
    • Moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week): BMR x 1.55
    • Very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days/week): BMR x 1.725
    • Super active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job): BMR x 1.9

Limitations
