To use this calculator, fill in all the fields including your sex, age, height, weight, and activity level, then click “Calculate”. The calculator will give you your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and your Daily Caloric Needs based on the activity level you selected.

Calculation Method

The calculator uses the Harris-Benedict equation to determine your BMR:

  • For males: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 * weight in kg) + (4.799 * height in cm) – (5.677 * age in years)
  • For females: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 * weight in kg) + (3.098 * height in cm) – (4.330 * age in years)

It then multiplies the BMR by an activity factor:

  • Sedentary: BMR * 1.2
  • Lightly active: BMR * 1.375
  • Moderately active: BMR * 1.55
  • Very active: BMR * 1.725
  • Super active: BMR * 1.9
