How It Calculates the Results

This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the amount of energy expended while at rest in a neutrally temperate environment. The BMR is then multiplied by an activity factor to estimate the actual calories you need per day based on your level of physical activity:

  • Extra active: BMR x 1.9 (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training)
