How to Use the Calorie Calculator:

To use this calculator, simply fill in your age, gender, weight in kilograms, height in centimeters, and select your activity level from the dropdown menu. Once you have entered all the information, click the “Calculate” button to see your daily calorie needs.

How It Calculates:

This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs at rest. It then multiplies your BMR by an activity factor to estimate your total daily calorie needs based on your activity level.

The Mifflin-St Jeor Equation is as follows:

  • For men: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 * weight in kg) + (4.799 * height in cm) - (5.677 * age in years)
  • For women: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 * weight in kg) + (3.098 * height in cm) - (4.330 * age in years)

The resulting BMR is then multiplied by the following activity factors:

  • Sedentary (little or no exercise): 1.2
  • Lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week): 1.375
  • Moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week): 1.55
  • Very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week): 1.725
  • Super active (very hard exercise/physical job & exercise): 1.9

Limitations:

Please note that the result is an estimate and may not be accurate for people with higher or lower muscle mass, different metabolic rates, or other underlying conditions that can affect metabolism. Always consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice.
