This tool helps you calculate the calories you need to achieve your fitness goals based on your personal information.
How It Works
Our Calorie Calculator estimates your daily caloric needs based on your gender, age, weight, height, and activity level. Here’s how it works:
- BMR Calculation: The Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is calculated using the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation:
- For males: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) + 5
- For females: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) – 161
- Activity Multiplier: The resulting BMR is then multiplied by an activity factor that corresponds to your typical activity level:
- Sedentary: BMR * 1.2 (little or no exercise)
- Lightly active: BMR * 1.375 (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week)
- Moderately active: BMR * 1.55 (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week)
- Very active: BMR * 1.725 (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week)
- Super active: BMR * 1.9 (very hard exercise/sports and a physical job)
The total number of calories calculated is what you need to consume daily to maintain your current weight based on your activity level.
