This tool helps you calculate and track your daily calorie intake efficiently.
How to Use the Calorie Counter
To use this calorie counter, simply fill out your age, gender, weight, height, and select your activity level from the provided options. After filling out all these details, click on the “Calculate” button to determine your estimated daily caloric intake.
How It Works
This calorie counter uses the Harris-Benedict equation for calculating Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) combined with an activity multiplier to estimate your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE). The calculations are carried out as follows:
For Men:
BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 * weight in kg) + (4.799 * height in cm) – (5.677 * age in years)
For Women:
BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 * weight in kg) + (3.098 * height in cm) – (4.330 * age in years)
The BMR is then multiplied by an activity factor:
- Sedentary: little or no exercise (BMR * 1.2)
- Lightly active: light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week (BMR * 1.375)
- Moderately active: moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week (BMR * 1.55)
- Active: hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week (BMR * 1.725)
- Very active: very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training (BMR * 1.9)
Limitations
It’s important to note that this calculator provides an estimate. Individual metabolic rates can vary due to various factors not accounted for in this formula, such as muscle mass, hormonal levels, and metabolic disorders. Always consult a healthcare provider for personalized advice.
