How to Use the Calorie Counter

To use this calorie counter, fill out the form with the following information:

  • Age: Your current age in years.
  • Gender: Select your gender from the dropdown menu.
  • Weight: Your current weight in kilograms.
  • Height: Your height in centimeters.
  • Activity Level: Choose your daily activity level from the provided options.

Click the “Calculate” button to determine your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and Daily Caloric Needs. These values give an estimate of the calories you need to maintain your current weight, taking into consideration your daily activity level.

How It Calculates Results

The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to compute your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs at rest. It then adjusts this number based on your activity level to determine your total daily caloric needs.

  • For Men: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) + 5
  • For Women: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) – 161

The activity level will adjust the BMR as follows:

  • Sedentary: BMR * 1.2
  • Lightly active: BMR * 1.375
  • Moderately active: BMR * 1.55
  • Very active: BMR * 1.725
  • Extra active: BMR * 1.9

Limitations

Keep in mind that this calculator provides an estimate and actual caloric needs can vary depending on various factors including but not limited to metabolism, muscle mass, injury, illness, stress levels, and more. This tool should not replace professional medical advice.
