Based on your inputs, the calculator uses Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to determine your daily caloric needs.

How it Calculates the Results

The Mifflin-St Jeor Equation is used to calculate the BMR:

  • For men: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) + 5
  • For women: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) – 161

The TDEE is then calculated by multiplying the BMR by an activity factor:

  • Sedentary (little or no exercise): TDEE = BMR * 1.2
  • Lightly Active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week): TDEE = BMR * 1.375
  • Moderately Active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week): TDEE = BMR * 1.55
  • Active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days/week): TDEE = BMR * 1.725
  • Very Active (very hard exercise/sports and a physical job): TDEE = BMR * 1.9
