MTF Calorie Calculator – Accurate Daily Intake

This tool helps you find out how many calories you need to maintain your current weight based on your activity level.

How to Use the MTF Calorie Calculator

To use this calculator, simply fill in your age, weight, height, sex, and activity level in the corresponding fields. Once you have entered all the necessary information, click the “Calculate” button to get your daily calorie needs.

How It Works

This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor formula to estimate your basal metabolic rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs to maintain basic physiological functions at rest. The BMR is then adjusted based on your activity level to estimate your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE), which is the number of calories you need to maintain your current weight given your lifestyle.

The activity levels you can choose from range from sedentary (little or no exercise) to super active (very hard exercise/sports and a physical job). The formulas used are as follows:

  • For males: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 x weight in kg) + (4.799 x height in cm) – (5.677 x age in years)
  • For females: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 x weight in kg) + (3.098 x height in cm) – (4.330 x age in years)

The BMR is then multiplied by an activity factor to account for your physical activity level:

  • Sedentary (little or no exercise): BMR x 1.2
  • Lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week): BMR x 1.375
  • Moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week): BMR x 1.55
  • Very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week): BMR x 1.725
  • Super active (very hard exercise/sports and a physical job): BMR x 1.9

Limitations

This calculator gives an estimate of your daily calorie needs based on the inputs provided. However, actual calorie requirements can vary due to a variety of factors including but not limited to metabolic rate variations, health conditions, and individual differences in the efficiency of nutrient absorption. For personalized advice, especially if you have specific dietary needs or health conditions, it is always best to consult with a healthcare or nutrition professional.
